According to recent news articles, there's a controversy brewing over the legitimacy of a new science theory called, "Intelligent Design." Simply speaking, its advocates, including President George W. Bush, want it to be taught in our elementary schools alongside the theory of "Evolution." Question: What is "Intelligent Design" and why the controversy? Intelligent Design is a new theory developed at the Discovery Institute of Seattle. It purports that during evolution an eternal intervention called, "Intelligent Design," took place giving rise to all of the documented progress of modern man and his beliefs, all within the last 6,000 to 7,000 years. Those opposing this theory state that this is only a ploy by our religious right to get around the Constitutional statute which separates State from religion. They believe it is more religion than science. Who's right and who's wrong? For starters, the theory of evolution has centuries upon centuries of relics with carbon dating to verify the progress of civilization, while Intelligent Design, though somewhat logical, is nothing more than a concept at this point. As for myself, I am not the most religious person, but if I were asked to given an opinion, I would say that all living things from our past to our present, are all intelligent in design. As for all of our practiced faiths, they all have a living history to support their existence. Furthermore, I believe that our world has more religion than it needs, at present. I hope and pray that Intelligent Design never makes it into our classrooms because it will create religious upheavals by giving the religious despots among us more fuel for their depravities. Let us never forget what happened to our Armenian people at the hands of the intelligently Designed Ottoman Turks, or for that matter, about Adolf Hitler's despotic 12 year reign whose 1,000 year empire of true Aryans, fell short of its mark by 988 years.
